Enemy at the door!
Somebody called out to you suddenly as you walked along and said “friend Watch-Out, enemy approaching”! I want you to imagine what your response would be. I am sure you will first-of-all stand still, pulse for a moment and quickly take a decision. I know that your decision could be either of this two: You will either decide to run away from the enemy or brace-up yourself to face the enemy. The second option may be possible because you are well-armed to face him. Even with that, you will tread-on cautiously, watching everywhere as you take each step of the journey. “Watch-Out enemy at the door” was God’s sudden call to Cain when his countenance was down. He did not give God the best, so God rejected his offering but God accepted that of Abel, hence Cain was annoyed. God quickly intervened and warned Cain of an impending danger that was approaching in Genesis 4: 7, when he said, “…..sin lies at the door, and unto thee shall be his desire……” God told Cain that the enemy at the door, ready to take advantage of Cain, hence God quickly called out to him, foolishly, he did not count it as anything, hence he rushed into it , “sin took the advantages and slew him (Rom 7:11). Cain killed his brother and thereby committed sin because he “mocked at sin” (Prove 14:9). He failed to watch out of enemy. Today, God is still calling out to you and me to watch-out (there is enemy at the door). The greatest enemy of man’s soul today is sin, (saint and sinners alike). The desire of sin is always toward man. Sin has three jobs to perform. They are to deceive, to deaden and to destroy. God is calling out to you to watch out. Sinner friend, you are warned to watch-out for this enemy of your soul (sin). You have no strength to face him. This is because you are already in his hand. The scripture says “he that commit sin is the servant of sin” (John 8:34) and sin is an instrument in the hands of Satan. Hence you are directly in Satan’s hand, for the scripture again confirm it that “He that commits sin is of Devil….” (John 3:8). That is why you have tried to leave your smoking, alcohol, adultery, cheating, fighting, lying, pools betting, bribery, stealing, drug and other sins in your life, but you have not been able. It is because, sin as well as Satan is holding you in his grip. It will take a stronger hand than Satan’s hand to release you from him. Hence, Jesus Christ said, “I have come- that you might have life, and have it more abundantly” (John 10: 10). Jesus said, “I have overcome the world” (John 16: 33). The devil is in the world; Jesus has overcome the World and Satan. Hallelujah hence the scripture say, “He (Jesus Christ) is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he lives to make intercession for them” (Heb 7: 25) Beloved, you might have been a Christian at one time or the other, God is calling out to you to watch-out for the enemy is at the door. Sin will always desire after you. There are two approaches you have to take. On some occasion, you have to run (1 Cor 6: 18) says, “Flee fornication” and on other occasions you have to resist; the scripture says, “Resist the devil and he will flee from you” – (John 4: 7). These two options are possible because there is an inner director who is Jesus Christ in the person of the Holy Spirit. If you listen to his call, you will win, if you refused to listen, the enemy will take advantage of you and slay you. If you have been defeated by the enemy, friend don’t lose hope, you can still be restored. Confess your sins to Christ ask him for pardon and renew your pledge with him. Remember that “The Lord will uphold all that fall, and rise up all those that bowed down” (Psalm 145: 14). Finally, remember God’s warning. “Watch-out because the enemy (sin) is at the door” wishing to pull you down. The only victory over sin is to accept Christ as Lord and savior of your Life and to continue to abide in him. As you take this great decision for your life eternity, God bless you.
